Honest Fox wins 2024 Good Design Gold for Ngarrngga project
Honest Fox and the Ngarrngga team are proud winners of the Australian Good Design Award for creating an innovative, culturally respectful education platform that empowers educators with First Nations knowledge and curriculum-aligned resources.
We are so honoured to win this award alongside the Ngarrngga team at Melbourne University, the First Nations educators, academics and artists who came together in true partnership to build this platform to share knowledge
The Awards
The Australian Good Design Awards recognise the best of the best, from architecture and engineering to research, fashion, social impact, and digital innovation. They shine a spotlight on the people and projects reshaping the way we think, live, and create.
When the Ngarrngga team partnered with Honest Fox, the goal wasn’t just to make another education website. We set out to craft something beautiful, intuitive, and powerful. A platform where educators can easily access curriculum-aligned resources and professional development, while deeply respecting Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property and the knowledge systems it protects.
Awards like this are never a solo act. Ngarrngga is the result of educators, designers, developers, First Nations leaders, and passionate collaborators working shoulder-to-shoulder to bring a bold idea to life. This recognition belongs to every single person who poured their expertise, creativity, and care into the project. And we’re only getting started. The Ngarrngga journey is evolving, growing, and expanding its reach and this award is just the first milestone in a much bigger story.
In designing the website, it was important to ensure that it met some very diverse and at times, conflicting priorities. While it was to be user friendly and visually engaging, it also had to function as both a repository for curriculum and research. It had to house educational resources meeting curriculum and education policy standards while showcasing Indigenous Knowledges
